POULTNEY ? Mary Joan Donley, age 75, of Poultney, passed away on February 4, 2007, at her residence, following a recurrence of melanoma.
Mary Joan was born in St. Albans, NYC, NY, on June 25, 1931, daughter of the late James M. and Barbara J. (Bernard) Moran. She graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY, class of 1949. Mary Joan worked in customer relations for H&R Block in Lancaster, PA, and at the PA Renaissance Faire in Lebanon, PA, for several years. After vacationing at Lake St. Catherine most of her life, Mary Joan moved to Poultney in 2003. She quickly became active in the community. Mary Joan was president of the Young at Heart Senior Center Inc. of Poultney, a member of the Vermont Gad About Red Hat Society and the Modern Woodmen of America. She was an avid quilter and also enjoyed traveling.
Mary Joan was married to Charles F. Donley for 46 years, who predeceased her in 1997. She is survived by five daughters, Barbara Donley of San Diego, CA, Kathleen M. and her husband Victor McLaughlin of Middletown, MD, Mary E. Lacey and her husband Joseph of La Plata, MD, Elizabeth S. Donley and her husband Dan Vaughan of Bokeelia, FL, and Patricia Donley and her husband Joe Lovato of Scio, OR; one brother, James M. Moran of Bethpage, NY; one grandson, Rory Donley-Lovato; three granddaughters, Kimberly McLaughlin, Ann and Meg Lacey; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
