Kenai resident Rosalind ?Rozzie? ?Roz? Faye Edelman died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer. She was 67.
Per her request no services are planned. Instead, a celebration of life will be held Aug. 14, at the family?s setnet site on Kalifornsky Beach Road.
A family viewing was held Monday, Jan. 22, at Kehl?s Palmer Mortuary. Prayer and scripture reading was led by Pastor John Wilson of Farm Loop Community Church.
Mrs. Edelman was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Helena, Mont., to Jacob and Thelma King. She married Edwin F. Edelman Jr. April 15, 1955, in Seattle. She worked for Burton Carver Transportation for 13 years and for United Builders Supply in Soldotna for several years.
Mrs. Edelman was a member of Soldotna Church of God.
Her first trip to Alaska was in the spring of 1955 to Cordova, where her husband was fishing. They moved their family of six children from Bothell, Wash., to Kenai in May 1970.
?Her family always joked that she was a ?Jack-of-all-Trades? when it came to hobbies. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, making porcelain dolls, crocheting, quilting, gardening, cooking and baking. Rozzie was a devoted and attentive Grandma. She looked forward to every moment she could spend spoiling her grandchildren. She has left a void, but also a legacy of how a Grandma should be.
?Rozzie most enjoyed family gatherings at the beach site. She had an ever-growing faith in and a deepening love for the Lord. She had a sure confidence in her salvation. In Him, we will be reunited,? her family said.
She is survived by her adoring husband of 51 years; sister, Mary Menghini of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; brother, Richard King of Devaul, Wash.; sons, Duane and his wife, Elizabeth and their children Justin, Jeremiah, Pauline and David of Valdez, Norman and his wife, Melissa and their children Steven and Erika of Oahu, Hawaii, Gregory and his children Ashlyn, Drasanna, Christopher and Daniel of Soldotna and Jay; daughters, Rene? and her husband, Mike Azzara and their children Monique, Audr? and Anthony of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mary and her husband, Steven Callison and their children Kala Rae, Kyle, Kasen and Karson of Palmer; and six great-grandchildren.
